Intravitreal Injections

Intravitreal Injections

For various diseases of the central retina (macula), drugs are administered directly into the eye, in order to achieve maximum concentration of the active ingredient and thus a rapid effect. This group of procedures is called intravitreal operative medication administration (IVOM=intravitreal injections) and it currently involves injecting cortisone and antibodies against growth factors. This type of therapy is used for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular degeneration (edema), macular degeneration due to vascular occlusion and edema due to inflammation following injury or surgery.

As well as the standard examination, it is essential to obtain a special tomographic image of the macula (optical coherence tomography - OCT), in order to evaluate the indication for an operation of this type and for predicting the outcome of treatment. We use ultramodern OCT equipment to quickly and painlessly create tomograms of your eye and perform appropriate treatment (IVOM) immediately, if necessary. This saves you unnecessary journeys and waiting times, as the examination, procedure and aftercare take place in the same building.

With these diseases, it is most important to start treatment quickly. We can give you this treatment (IVOM) quickly, without any waiting time or fuss.
